Guru is that principle which is wisdom and love. We also call that person a Guru, in whom, there is no gap between life, wisdom and love. A unique flavor of love is the Guru-disciple relationship. If there is no love then there is neither Guru nor disciple. The key is to feel the presence of the Guru. Guru is the presence, not a relationship. Relationships can be broken, mended, and broken again. There is craving and aversion in every relationship. This is the wheel of sansara, the misery of the world. All relationships go topsy-tuvy, whereas the presence is vast, infinite, stable and centered. We shall not make Guru a wordly relationship. “Oh, he looked at me’. “He didn’t look at me”. “He said this”. “He didn’t say that”. “Somebody else is close, I am not close”. Maharajji does not always make life easier for His devotees. Actually, He sometimes makes things quite difficult. He challengers the minds of His devotees to again surrender their hearts to their Jivatma souls -- indeed, to Him. Maharajji will “put you through it.” That is the only way to say it. Maharajji is teaching all His devotees. He is teaching you every day. The lessons are often quite difficult. It has been said that Maharajji will put you in a difficult position or put you totally in the wrong, and then pull you out of it and put you in the reverse position. It seems that “reversal” is a big part of Maharajji’s Lila.
